The revitalization process begins with finding a playground or park that has community support for ongoing maintenance, upkeep and programming. The buy-in from the community is essential to the revitalization process. The Gilmore | Henne Community Fund’s vision is to revitalize communities and we use the playground as our platform. Following the community build or freshening of a playground or park, the real process begins. The Gilmore | Henne Community Fund and the immediate community take ownership of the new space. This often involves maintenance and upkeep, graffiti removal, and neighborhood clean-ups to ensure the area remains safe and clean. Programming is also implemented. Over the course of the spring and summer months, the Fund and the immediate community host Movie Nights, Egg Hunts, G|H Summer Camp, youth sports clinics, and a variety of other free family events. These events bring neighbors closer, encourage families to spend time together, and allow our youth to interact under positive adult supervision.
If you have a playground or park that you would like us to consider for a future project, please complete the Revitalization Request Form and email it to email@example.com.
